Death
“Ending makes room.”

- transformation

Death upright
Something must end so something truer can begin; let the old self fall away without mourning it too long. This is transformation, not loss.
Death reversed
You are clinging to what is already over, prolonging the goodbye. Release your grip and let the change complete itself.
Death in love
Something is over, and the reading is usually confirming what you already know rather than announcing it. Death is not necessarily the end of the relationship — it is the end of a version of it, and holding the old version in place is what makes this card painful rather than clean.
Death in work and money
A role, a project or an identity you have outgrown. Death appears for people who are staying somewhere out of the sunk cost of having been good at it. The card is unsentimental about that. The ending is not the loss; the delay is.
How Death is usually misread
Feared as literal death, which it almost never is. The more useful correction is the other way: people soften it into 'change' so thoroughly that they miss the instruction. Something is over. The card is asking you to stop administering it.
What it asks you today
